Before you can publish content, go live, or set a profile photo, Velvet Africa needs a one-time face (liveness) verification. It's a short live video selfie that proves the person in your photos and content is really you. It protects you, your clients, and the platform from impersonation.
Where to find it
Creator dashboard → Verification (in the sidebar), or tap the gold 'Verify your likeness' banner on your dashboard. You can also complete it from the holding screen right after you apply — so you're cleared the moment an admin approves you.
Open Verification
Dashboard → Verification, or tap the dashboard banner. Tap 'Begin'. You'll get a short one-time code to hold up on camera.
Record your live capture
A short guided video — you'll show the code and do a slow turn. Use good lighting facing you (not a window behind you). No filters, sunglasses, or hats covering your face.
Submit for review
The video uploads privately and goes to our review team. You'll get a notification — with a link straight back to this page — usually within 24 hours.
Approved or retry
Approved: you can now publish and go live. Needs a retry: follow the feedback (better lighting, clearer angle) and re-record. Most resubmissions pass the same day.
Your video is kept PRIVATE and is automatically deleted after review. It is never shown on your profile. If your verification is rejected after you've already published, your content and profile photo are hidden until you re-verify — so don't skip this.
If an admin onboarded you directly, they can approve your likeness for you — but completing the quick selfie yourself is faster and never gets stuck waiting.
Put what you learned into action.
