Some clients will try to negotiate. The way you respond tells them — and the market — exactly how much your time is worth. Lower your price once and you've set a new ceiling that's very hard to raise.
The principle
Confidence in your pricing is part of your brand. Creators who hold their price are perceived as more professional, more in-demand, and more worth booking — because they usually are.
Stay calm, don't justify
"My rates are the same for all clients — they reflect the quality and preparation I bring to every session." Say it once. You don't owe them an essay.
Offer a different service, not a lower price
If their budget is genuinely limited, point them to your lower-priced service. That's not a discount — it's a different product.
Let them walk
A client who negotiates before they've even booked will negotiate after, dispute, and leave difficult reviews. Their exit is good news.
Creators found offering off-platform deals or fake bookings are permanently banned. Velvet Africa monitors for payment anomalies. The short-term gain is never worth the account you've built.
Put what you learned into action.
