Joining Velvet Africa as a creator is free, and the sign-up takes about 3 minutes on your phone. Here is how to join Velvet Africa as a creator. Open velvetafrica.com/c/register, type your email, your phone number and a password, choose your working name and your city, then enter the code we send to your email. After that you add photos, write two lines about yourself, and set your own services and prices. The last step is free verification: one photo of your ID and one short video selfie. Once it is approved your profile goes live and clients can send you booking requests. Nothing is charged at any point: no joining fee, no monthly fee, no plans or tiers. You keep 80% of what you charge. You can stop in the middle and come back later — what you already entered is saved.
Key takeaways
- It is free to join. Forever. No sign-up fee, no monthly fee, no subscription.
- You keep 80%. A flat 20% on everything — bookings, tips, content, chat unlocks.
- Verification is free. You need it to receive bookings, not to open an account.
- You set your own prices, services, hours and boundaries. Anything illegal is not allowed on Velvet.
- The client pays before you meet. The platform holds the money, and half your share reaches your wallet when the booking is confirmed.
- All you need is a phone, your ID and about 3 photos. You must be 18 or older.
What you need before you start
Get these five things ready first. It makes everything faster.
- A phone with internet. Any Android phone is fine.
- An email address you can open now. Your code is sent there — a free Gmail account works.
- Your ID. National ID, passport or driving permit, showing you are 18 or older.
- About 3 clear photos of yourself. Good daylight, no dark rooms.
- Your prices. Decide what one hour costs, for example UGX 100,000.
Step 1: Open the sign-up page
On your phone, open Chrome and type: velvetafrica.com/c/register. Nothing on that page charges you money.
Create your free profile — it takes about 3 minutes
Step 2: Fill in your details
Type into the boxes on the screen:
- Your working name. The name clients see. It need not be your real name.
- Your email address. Type it carefully. Your code comes here.
- Your phone number. Clients never see this.
- A password you will remember.
- Your city. Kampala, Entebbe, Wakiso, Jinja, or the town where you work.
Then tap the button at the bottom.
Step 3: Get your code from email
We send a short code to your email. Copy it from the Velvet Africa message, type it into the box on the page and tap continue. Your account now exists.
If it is not there after 2 minutes, check your Spam or Junk folder, or tap "resend code".
Step 4: Add your photos and two lines about yourself
You now see your dashboard — your own page for managing your work. Tap the upload box and your phone gallery opens. Choose a photo, wait for it to finish, then add the next. Three is a good start. Add a cover photo too — the wide picture at the top of your profile.
Then write two lines about yourself, for example: "Professional deep tissue and Swedish massage. 4 years experience in Kampala. I can travel to your hotel or home."
Tired? Close the page. Log in later — nothing is lost.
Step 5: Set your services and your prices
Tap the services section. Add each thing you offer and what you charge, for example:
- Full body massage, 60 minutes — UGX 100,000
- Deep tissue, 90 minutes — UGX 150,000
- Out-call (you travel to the client) — your price plus a transport fee
You choose these numbers, not us. The transport fee is 100% yours — the platform takes no cut of travel money. Write your boundaries here too: you decide what you do and do not do, and anything illegal is not allowed on Velvet.

Step 6: Do the free verification so clients can book you
This step is what makes you bookable. It costs nothing. Tap "Verification" in your dashboard and do two small things:
- Photo of your ID. Put it on a table in good light, so all four corners show and the words are readable.
- A short video selfie. Hold your face in the circle for a few seconds and turn your head when asked. This shows the photos are really you.
Your ID is private — only our verification team sees it.
Why bother? Because you cannot receive bookings until you are verified. The verified badge tells a client you are a real person. See how verified profiles look on the Explore page.
Step 7: Your profile goes live and clients can book
Once verification is approved, your profile appears in search and clients can start sending you booking requests. What happens then:
- The client pays first. The platform holds the money. Nobody hands you cash at the door.
- When the booking is confirmed, half of your share goes into your Velvet Africa wallet — money kept for you inside the app. On a UGX 100,000 session you earn UGX 80,000, so UGX 40,000 lands before you meet.
- The other UGX 40,000 is released when the session is completed.
- If the meetup never happens — the client does not show up, or the booking is cancelled or refunded — the money that was held goes back to the client. The UGX 40,000 already in your wallet is taken back as well. You are not chasing anyone for cash, but you are not paid for a session that did not happen.
- You withdraw from your wallet to mobile money.
Why the 80% matters
Spas and parlours in Kampala commonly pay a therapist about 30% of the session fee and keep 60% to 70%. On Velvet Africa you keep 80% of what you charge. Same work, same hour. These are illustrative figures, not a promise of bookings:
| Session price | If a spa pays you 30% | Velvet Africa (you keep 80%) |
|---|---|---|
| UGX 80,000 | UGX 24,000 | UGX 64,000 |
| UGX 100,000 | UGX 30,000 | UGX 80,000 |
| UGX 150,000 | UGX 45,000 | UGX 120,000 |
| UGX 200,000 | UGX 60,000 | UGX 160,000 |
At UGX 100,000 a session, four sessions a week is UGX 320,000 kept by you — UGX 1,280,000 over four weeks. That is arithmetic, not a guarantee; what you earn depends on how many clients book you. The client also pays a separate processing fee, which is never taken out of your 80%.

Frequently asked questions
Does it cost anything to join Velvet Africa as a creator?
No. Joining is free and stays free — no sign-up fee, no monthly fee, no plans or tiers. Verification is free too. The only money the platform takes is 20% of what you actually earn.
I did not get the code in my email. What do I do?
Check your Spam or Junk folder first. Then check you typed your email correctly — one wrong letter and the code went nowhere. Tap "resend code", or sign up again with a different email.
My photo will not upload. How do I fix it?
Usually it is the internet. Move to better network, or switch between data and WiFi. Use the original picture from your gallery rather than a screenshot, and upload one at a time.
I forgot my password. Can I still get in?
Yes. Go to velvetafrica.com/c/login and tap "Forgot password". Enter the email you signed up with and we send a code to set a new one. Your profile, photos and prices are still there.
Do I have to show my ID, and who sees it?
Yes — to receive bookings you must verify with an ID and a short video selfie. Only our verification team sees your ID. Clients never do. It confirms you are a real person aged 18 or over.
Can I change my prices, services or photos later?
Any time. Log in, open your dashboard and edit what you want — a price, a service, a photo, your hours — or pause your profile when you are resting. Nothing is locked in.
