Your Safety Matters
Safety on Velvet Africa
We take the safety of every user and creator seriously. Here's how we protect every interaction on our platform.
Platform Safety Features
Verified Creators Only
Every creator on Velvet Africa is ID-checked and interviewed before their profile goes live. Unverified users cannot accept bookings.
Escrow Payments
Your money is held safely in escrow and only released after the meetup is confirmed via QR scan — so you never pay for a no-show.
Live Safety Check-ins
During active bookings, our platform sends periodic check-in prompts. Missed check-ins trigger an automatic alert.
SOS Emergency Button
A discreet SOS button is available on every active booking screen. One tap alerts our safety team and shares your last known location.
Block & Report
You can block any user or creator at any time. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team within 24 hours.
Anonymous Reviews
Reviews are published without personally identifying information so you can be honest without fear of retaliation.
For Users
Before every booking, we recommend:
- 📣
Tell someone you trust where you are going and when you expect to be back.
- 🏅
Check the verified badge — only book creators who have completed our identity verification.
- 💬
Use in-app chat only. Do not share personal contact details or arrange payment outside the platform.
For Creators
Your safety is just as important. Here's how to protect yourself:
- ⚙️
Set clear service boundaries on your profile. You are never obligated to accept a booking that makes you uncomfortable.
- 👻
Use Ghost Mode to go private when you need a break. Your profile will not appear in search while ghost mode is on.
- 🚫
Block and report any client who behaves inappropriately. Our moderation team acts on all reports within 24 hours.
